humidifiers

what happened to those things? i remember that big boxy looking thing getting pulled out any time one of us young children were sick. what did it do? what was it for? did it work? i do remember they always fascinated me.. filling them up with water, the steamy air coming out the top. well i've been sick going on three months now. i'm taking vitamins, drinking a lot of water, getting plenty of sleep. so the next answer must be a humidifier.. obviously. were they a thing of the 80s and 90s? do people other than liz lemon still use them?

i'd call my mom but she's off in barcelona for the weekend.. lame.

  1. I know the feeling. My mom is with your mom. I want to call her all the time. Okay so Humidifiers or Vaporizers are to help you breath when you sleep and we have a red dragon one for Evan that he's been using for the last 2 weeks. He is still very congested but who knows if it would be worse, it has REALLY helped him in the past, and he seems to be doing mucho better now. Humidiers believe it or not blow out cold air which is what you want because Vaporizers blow out warm/hot air which can actually cause mold in your room. So it's up to you. I find that vitamins are just a gimmick because you don't always need everything that they cram in the "all in one" package. Sometimes we only need a little bit of one or two things and I have found that I actually sometimes feel worse after taking an "all in one" vitamin. Same goes for my hubby. Try, airborne, dayquil (that usually works for me), or you can try a more homeopathic route of a netti pot. I didn't have the best success with it, but people who use it always swear by it. Good luck!

  2. Totally had this convo with Chris the other night. Those things were amazing! If you're congested at all try Vick's Shower Soothers. They're these tablets you put in the shower and always do the charm for me!

  3. Yes they still make humidifiers. They even have really stylish ones that sit on your desk or nightstand and look pretty. You poor girl...I wish you would feel better soon!

  4. I totally still use them! in fact I have been using one for the past week or so and it has helped a lot- especially in places like Utah where it is super dry- it helps to bring moisture into the air. Humid places may not need them as much- but us utahns do!

  5. I wish I could come rock you to get better. I think you might be alergic to something...Jason, Utah, your apartment. Just kidding about Jason, but as a young child you had a lot of congestion. We'll check into alergies when I come visit. Miss you honey. Take care of yourself. We'll call soon. right now you are asleep. When people say from a trip, "we wish you were here", I really mean that. Maybe sometime in the next 10 years.
